KLONDIKE, SMAC Headquaters- After weeks of intense planning, the Small and Medium Army Central is introducing a new tournament format that’s previously been unheard of. The Continental Cup will run for approximately just under two weeks, an incredibly short time span for a competition. How will it work, you may ask? Read on to find out.
Innovative in itself, The Continental Cup will bring the best out of the international divisions of the 14 S/M armies that will be participating in the competition. The first week will consist of the group stage matches in which the competitors will be split into two groups of seven. Each side will face an opponent once a day until they’ve played six matches, two points being awarded for a win, one for a draw and none for a loss. On the 7th day, all the armies in Group A will come together for a big AUSIA clash, with additional points being awarded to those sides who do well. Likewise, on the 8th day of the tournament, all the armies in Group B will also battle it out in the AUSIA clash. After the results are in, the top three armies from both groups will be awarded qualification into the Super Six.
The Super Six will be the traditional sudden-death knockout round. To proceed further in the Continental Cup, an army must come out victorious in both, the AUSIA leg and the UK/US leg. In the case of a tie, the victor is the side that has the higher amount of total judge votes.
After the Super Six stage is concluded, three finalists will face off over the course of three legs: AUSIA, UK and US. We may have playoffs for the 4th, 5th and 6th positions, though this is only a possibility.
The deadline for sign-ups/acceptances is the 1st of May, 2014. We have 10 armies invited, however if a spot becomes open due to an army declining, you may sign up to take that spot. Regardless, there are 4 spaces that are open.

OK guys. That is how it is. No more changes. If your army is not there. Try and get into a Top Ten to be known.
